Exhaust pipe exhausted?
If you notice any of the following, have your exhaust system checked by our mechanics to find out whether there is an issue and whether it needs repairing or replacing.
Noises
- Rattling
- May indicate loose brackets, which hold the system in place.
- Roaring
- Could mean there are problems with the silencer.
- Hissing or popping
- Could be a sign that the muffler or one of the pipes is leaking.
Emissions
- Blue smoke
- Could indicate an engine fault that is putting burnt oil into the exhaust system.
- White smoke
- Normal when the engine first starts, but if it continues it could be a coolant leak caused by a leaking head gasket or a crack in the engine block.
Visual appearance
Rust or corrosion on the pipe, together with cracks, especially where the pipes connect? Book in to have your exhaust inspected.
